What settings should I use for my car stereo? What settings should I use for my car stereo? Right now I have a alpine CDE-100 deck (which has a 2 volt pre-out), a kenwood 9105d amp (900 watts @ 2ohms) , and a pioneer ts-w3004spl (1000 watts rms, 3000max). The sub is inside of a 1.25 cubic foot box that I made. The box was put together airtight. Sound quality is a factor, though I would like it to be set as loud as possible. The setup is in a 93 camry. The inside speakers are rather shot, and from 0 to 40, I can turn the radio to about 26ish when the speakers sound like crap. At 26, the volume is loud enough in the car, I suppose, until I can get new speakers inside. My goal is to get the most out of the sub at about volume 26. I saw somewhere that I need to take the rms of the amp, multiply by the ohms, then get the square root for the max voltage. I took my 900 watts rms, multiplied by the 2 ohms, and got 1800 (which is my max watts for the amp funny enough) . The square root I got was 42.426. What I did then was set my volume at 26, put in some music, and adjusted the gain to get apx. 42 volts at the "bumps". This fluctuates, and I have seen this jump up to 44, though not very often. I have also found that I am supposed to take a constant hz ( i.e. 43 ) , and play that instead of normal music. The problem I have with that is its not that loud for music in general. Even with me setting this to the fluctuating bass in normal music, I am content, but I feel as I could use more. I know the best answer is to go buy more subs or amps, but I do not have the money for this. Any help would be great. Overall, I am looking for loud, although sq is a plus... car insurance. Mercury . Mercury 75 HP Outboard Engine TroubleshootingEnjoy the freedom that dropping your 75-hp Mercury outboard engine in the water brings. Mercury is a well known and trusted name in outboard engines, however, as with most machines that have multiple moving parts, wear and tear inevitably occurs. Whether the issue is a primer bulb that is defective or a spark plug that needs replacing, the problems are fairly easy to solve. Run through a few simple troubleshooting steps before calling in a mechanic. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Step by Step : 1 Remove the rubber shoe over the spark plug and then the spark plug to inspect for dirt or excessive corrosion. A spark plug that is still good will usually be a gray hue in color. Clean or replace the plug as needed. 2 Check to see that the rubber fuel primer bulb is pliable when you squeeze it. If you feel any kind of resistance, it could mean that fuel is not reaching the engine and the fuel line assembly may need to be replaced. Have a qualified marine mechanic do this for you. Ensure that there is enough fuel in the tank and refill as needed. Check all the fuel lines running to and from the engine for kinks or leaks. 3 Pour a small amount of fuel/oil mix directly into the carburetor intake if the outboard motor will not start. Do this if squeezing the rubber fuel primer does not work. Pull the starter cord after you have poured the fuel into the carburetor. 4 Check all the engine gaskets (seals) for any damage or wear and tear. The seals are about 1/8-inch thick and should fit snug and be without cracks or chips. Have a marine mechanic replace these for you, if needed. The gaskets seal the fluids in the engine and if they are damaged, they could allow air into the engine, This could cause a vacuum leak inside the system. 5 Remove the plastic engine cover and check to see if there is any oil leakage, or splatter, on the inside of the cover. If you notice oil, it could be that the rings have failed. Have a mechanic check this over for you. 6 Replace the fuel pump cover if it is cracked. If the cover is compromised in any way, it could be the cause of a vacuum leak as well. 7 Remover the screws to the pump and check for any fuel leaks. Prime the fuel bulb. If you notice a small leak from a hole at the back of the pump, the diaphragm may need replacing. 8 Check the engine for sufficient pressure. Remove the spark plug and attach the compression test gauge. If the reading is not between 60 psi (pound per square inch) and 90 psi, the rings could be worn. Have a marine mechanic investigate further for you.
Mercury . How to Troubleshoot Small Engine CarburetorsA carburetor that is working correctly helps the engine run smoothly. Carburetors may develop various problems at some point, which can affect the overall performance of your vehicle. Since carburetors can be expensive to repair, it is best to fix small problems as they occur. You can recognize and troubleshoot some of the most common issues. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Step by Step : 1 Check engine acceleration. If you are experiencing poor acceleration, throttle cables may need to be aligned. Check to see if the fuel level in the tank is low and adjust the level. You may also need to inspect the accelerator pump for leaks and get them repaired. 2 Adjust the operating idle speed. If you are experiencing poor idling, your operating idle speed may need adjustment. Also, look for inlet system air leaks and correct the problem. Inspect the accelerator pump for leaks and repair any. 3 Determine if the air cleaner filter element is dirty. If it is, it may cause poor fuel economy. Also check to see if the bowl vent is plugged or restricted and clean appropriately. Check to see if the needle jet is worn and if it is, replace it. 4 Determine if the fuel supply tract is restricted if you experience poor performance. If it is restricted, it should be cleared. Check for a plugged bowl vent or overflow and have them cleaned. 5 Inspect the spark plugs to determine if they are wet. Wet spark plugs may be a sign of water in the fuel or over-choking. Correct the problem and replace the old spark plugs. Tips & Warnings Debris can cause performance problems in carburetors. Use a small amount of carburetor cleaner on the shaft to get rid of debris. Most are adjustable, meaning that if your vehicle is sitting too high or low, you can make an adjustment by turning an adjusting bolt. *<* Air springs: These are filled with the right amount of compressed air to control the ride and maintain the proper height. A computer monitors the ride height and signals an on-board air compressor to pump more air into the air springs whenever weight is added to the vehicle. When the weight is removed, the computer turns on an exhaust solenoid to let air out of the air springs (see Figure 16-10). Usually, there's nothing to lubricate with air springs. But check with the dealer to find out whether it's okay to apply a rubber conditioner to the air bags to prevent them from wearing out prematurely.
